The actual reason to why Richard likes to kick people is that in his life, he has consumed a great deal of hurt from his mother and wishes to exhale that pain and stress by releasing it through his tarsals(Foot bones).In human words so John can understand, Richard kicks people to release his anger. Or because it hurts innocent soles.
